This summer there are a lot of things going on. I’m going to talk about baseball first. I play on Algona Red. Our name is the Reds. I’m catcher. Being a catcher is pretty fun, but the hardest job in baseball. You have to squat for like the whole game. I’m used to it but sometimes it’s really hard to get the balls when they aren’t really close to you. You have to dive which is the hard part. I’m getting a lot better this year. I also go to the farm to work with animals. I don’t have any sheep or lambs this year. I have three cows instead. We go almost every day in the summer. The only day we don’t go is on Sundays. We go to church. I also go to the campground in Austin Minnesota. It’s called Yogi Bear. There is a lot in different states. I usually play bean bags. We’re going to Yogi Bear this weekend. There is candy bar bingo.

The person I like being with most is my brother Chance. We do everything together. When I’m home my favorite person is my mom. She helps me a lot better than most people when I’m sad or scared. Chance and I might not get along all the time but we get over it. When we’re separated I get a little worried. It feels like something different. When Chance and I go to Algona we might separate for one class. It will be practice because in High School we might not even be in a class together. I hope we have at least 2. We do sports together also. We are together most of the time we are able to. I’m not going to say the reason why though. It might make them sad. I hope we get along so when we’re older we’re actually talk to each other. by Ace
The teacher that changed my life is Mrs. Nissen. She got me into Harry Potter so now I can maybe have my kids read the series when I’m older. I would probably start them in third or fourth grade. It matters how good they can read. I used to think it was so scary I wouldn’t even watch a movie or read a book. I changed my mind. The Harry Potter series isn’t the only thing. She taught me how to divide into decimals. We’re doing a long sheet with all the baseball teams to average there OPS, HR, RBI’s, and BA. We started at the end of April. We’re almost done. The dividing fractions is a fifth grade level. I think I’ll have to learn it again next year. It was very, very hard at first. We only have three days to finish it by the end of the year. I have a kind of happy feeling since I know how to divide decimals when I’m in fourth grade. by Ace
If I were a principal for a week I would do a lot of things. I would check the school to see if there are any problems. I would buy more books for kids if they want them. It probably be a certain price. I don't want to waste too much money. I just love to read. I’ve read the Harry Potter series and I’m on the third book on the Chronicles of Narnia. It’s a very religious book. The second book The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe is my favorite. I’ll probably have a big assembly so that everybody can can read. It doesn’t matter what book you want to read. You can read all sorts. Maybe try a new book or just reread one you’ve already read before. You can’t read on a computer for a book. It’s like a no electronic time. You can just read a real book. I don’t care if it is picture book or chapter book as long as you’re reading. by Ace
If I was only able to say 20 words for the rest of my life, what would they would be? Here are the first ten. Interception, homerun, touchdown, slam dunk, first down, fumble, Pittsburgh, and Pirates. These are sporty ones. The next ten would be about just random ones. Here are the last ten. Are we there yet, help, hello, hi, bye, mom, and dad. There are my last ten words. This is a kind of thing a lot of kids say. Not all of them say this. I chose it because these are common words I say. by Ace
Today we are talking about the funniest thing that’s ever happened to us. This is was hard one. I just can’t think of anything funny happening to me. One thing that happened is when I was very little. I was scared of flies. I couldn’t even go down a slide if one was on there. So my mom or dad had to make it go away. I didn’t know this until my mom and dad told me. It was pretty funny when they told me. They also said we ate some gross foods. Here’s one. They are something like strawberry wheels. Mom and dad told me they smelled so bad. Chance and I used to make some crazy sandwiches too. One is an A1 sandwich. We just had A1 and bread. It was funny remembering these things. by Ace
Today we are talking about something that we like to do outside in the summer. Mine is baseball. I’m usually the catcher. Chance might catch one inning. He plays third base. It would be hard for me though because I’m bad at getting grounders. That is one thing I need to work on. I was the only person on our team last year that wanted to be a catcher. I never had a break. I caught all game. That is one thing that I can work at. We play on the red team in Algona. It’s pretty fun because there are strikes and balls. It is real baseball, not like the type when the coach pitches it to you. It was also fun hitting my first single. I would probably play some basketball too.

Today we are talking about something we didn’t do this weekend. The thing I didn’t go to was go to the farm. I did go to someone else's farm for 4-H though. I got to ride on a horse. It was very scary at first, but then I got used to it. It’s O.K. though that I didn’t go to the farm. Every day from the beginning of June until the beginning of July I’m at the farm working with my cows. It is fun at the fair. The only problem is that I have to wake up early and go to bed late. I at least nap two days during the fair. My brother once last year took some funny pictures. When I was sleeping my brother put a lemonade cup in my hand. I don’t know how I didn’t wake up. Another one he just took a picture of me. This year we might go to the Britt fair. by Ace
Today we are talking about someone that we would like to meet. I would like to meet George Washington. I like history and he’s a big person in history. If it wasn’t for him we wouldn't have won the Revolutionary War. He was also the first President of the United States. I love history, so it was kind of hard to choose. If I was able to ask him a question, the first that would come to mind is was it hard to be the president? Another one would be was hard to lead the army in the war? I think he would say sometimes, but not all the time. I would also ask what did he think of the attack at the battle of Yorktown. The last one would be did you like Marquis De Lafayette. I would also ask how his childhood was. Another question that I would ask is was it hard to retire. I wonder if he knows how important he is for us now. It’s about 215 years later, but he he is still really famous. Most people take movie stars as famous people but not me. I prefer famous people from history. |
